Across California, CalRecycle’s Recycling Reimagined team activated at community events in Rancho Cucamonga, Elk Grove, San Diego, and Oakland’s Chinatown neighborhood to talk with communities about their everyday recycling habits.
A hands-on sorting activity at each festival helped bring these conversations to life. Families gathered to debate which common household items belonged in each bin. The game made learning practical, memorable, and fun. These conversations also helped neighbors gain a clearer understanding of how everyday choices at home can support a cleaner environment, from putting food scraps in the curbside green bin to taking wine bottles and other beverage containers to redeem the California Redemption Value (CRV) at recycling sites.
By showing up at cultural celebrations across California, Recycling Reimagined creates space for residents to test their knowledge, get their questions answered, and leave with a deeper understanding of their vital role in building a more sustainable future for all.
